You don’t need a 4.0 GPA to get scholarships. We’ll say it one more time, just a little bit louder, for the people in the back. You don’t need a 4.0 GPA to get scholarships! If you’re more of a B-average kind of guy or gal, you have a wide range of scholarships that you can take advantage of. We’ve compiled a list of scholarships that require a 3.0 GPA, so take a look at each and find one to assist you with your college goals!

 

The Seth Okin Good Deeds Scholarship

Award: $500

Deadline: January 31st, 2018

Description: This scholarship is for students who are interested and engaged in serving their community. Applicants must submit a 500-word essay in response to the question:  With so many people and organizations in today’s world in need of volunteers and financial assistance, how should people decide where to direct their time and donations?

 

Jimmy Rand Foundation Scholarship

Award:  $500-$5,000

Deadline: February 8th, 2018

Description: This scholarship is for high school seniors, college freshmen, and college sophomores who are under the age of 20. To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must reside in the following states or the District of Columbia: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Mississippi, Tennessee, Louisiana, Texas, North Carolina, Kentucky, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York, Delaware, and New Jersey. Applicants must exhibit academic excellence, leadership skills, community involvement, activities, awards and honors, financial need, and a desire and ability to overcome barriers and achieve their goals. High school applicants must have a 3.0 GPA and college students must have a 2.75 GPA.

 

PRIME High School Scholarship

Award: Variable

Deadline: February 1st, 2018

Description: This scholarship is for graduating high school seniors who commit to enroll in a manufacturing engineering or technology program at an accredited college or university as full-time freshmen in the upcoming summer or fall semester. To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must have an overall minimum 3.0 GPA. This scholarship can be used only as a credit toward books, fees, or tuition.

 

Chapter 6 — Fairfield County Scholarship

Award: Variable

Deadline: February 1st, 2018

Description: This scholarship is for graduating high school seniors and undergraduate students who are enrolled in a degree program in manufacturing engineering, technology, or a closely related field in the United States or Canada. To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must have an overall minimum 3.0 GPA. Preference is given, but not limited to, residents and/or students in the eastern United States. This scholarship can be used only as a credit toward books, fees, or tuition.

 

American Nuclear Society (ANS) John and Muriel Landis Scholarship

Award: Variable

Deadline: February 1st, 2018

Description: This scholarship is for high school seniors, undergraduate students, and graduate students who are planning a career in nuclear science, nuclear engineering, or a nuclear-related field. To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must have greater-than-average financial need and plan to enroll in a college/university in the United States. Applicants do not need to be US citizens.

 

Ruth E. Jenkins Scholarship

Award: Variable

Deadline: February 1st, 2018

Description: This scholarship is for graduating African-American high school seniors.

 

Colgate “Bright Smiles, Bright Futures” Minority Scholarships

Award: $1,500

Deadline: February 1st, 2018

Description: These scholarships are for dental hygiene students who are members of groups that are currently underrepresented in dental hygiene programs at the certificate educational level. Eligible applicants include African Americans, Hispanics, Asians, Native Americans, and males. To qualify for these scholarships, applicants must have completed at least one year in a dental hygiene curriculum, have a 3.0 GPA, and enroll as full-time students. Applicants must also demonstrate financial need and be active or student members of the American Dental Hygienists’ Association (ADHA).

 

Honest Beauty Award

Award: $2,500

Deadline: February 1st, 2018

Description: This award is for high school or undergraduate students. Applicants must create a 3-5 minute video that creates awareness and proposes solutions about beauty issues that impact self-image for women. Multiple topic ideas are available, please see website for complete guidelines.

 

LAGRANT Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship

Award: $2,000

Deadline: February 28th, 2018

Description: This scholarship is for African Americans, Asians, Pacific Islanders, Hispanics, American Indians, and Alaska Natives who are current college freshmen, sophomores, juniors, or non-graduating seniors. To qualify, applicants must be full-time students majoring in a field of study that has an emphasis on public relations, marketing, or advertising; or they must minor in communications with a desire to pursue a career in public relations, marketing, or advertising. Applicants must have at least one year to complete their degree from the time the scholarships are awarded and have a minimum 2.75 GPA.

 

Neil Churchill Memorial Scholarship

Award: Variable — for graduate programs

Deadline: April 16th, 2018

Description: This scholarship is for residents of privately owned federally assisted low income housing properties (Section 8, low income housing tax credits, etc.) or recipients of Section 8 voucher rent assistance who demonstrate both merit and need. To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must be college graduates, college seniors, or students already enrolled in an accredited graduate program. Applicants must be US citizens or legal permanent residents with a valid social security number, be accepted for full- or part-time programs with a minimum class schedule of two classes, have a 3.0 GPA, and demonstrate sound community leadership through volunteer work at school or in the community. Applicants may only apply for one scholarship offered by the NLHA Education Fund per application cycle.

 

The Waterlogic Scholarship

Award: $1,500

Deadline: May 31st, 2018

Description: This scholarship is for current high school seniors or college students in the US. Applicants must write a 600-800 word essay. Topic: Accessible clean water — how can we achieve it?

 

Test Prep Store Scholarship

Award: $1,000

Deadline: May 31st, 2018

Description: This scholarship is for high school seniors or students currently enrolled in college. Applicants must be legal U.S. residents, attending or enrolled in a college in the U.S. and have a GPA of 3.0 or higher as of Spring 2018. Financial need is required.

 

The Providian Medical Scholarship

Award: $500

Deadline: June 21st, 2018

Description: This scholarship is for students 16 years of age and older who are enrolled at an accredited high school, college, or university in the United States. To apply for the scholarship, you must submit an original essay of up to 1,500 words that describes how medical equipment technology has changed the face of a college course and curriculum. Entries can also include a look toward the future and how this area of study will continue to evolve and advance.

Elite Heating, Cooling & Plumbing Scholarship

Award: $1,000

Deadline: June 30th, 2018

Description: This scholarship is for current high school seniors attending school in the United States or current college students. This scholarship has an essay requirement for the following topic: What are the main challenges that we stand before as a nation on this earth? Students will an essay about supporting the environment with this question in mind. Describe your vision of what can be done, including what the biggest issue facing the globe is and what we as citizens of The United States should do to make it better. Describe your role in it – what impact do you have in protecting the environment and what do you intend to do to help improve it.

 

Go Global Scholarship

Award: $1,000

Deadline: June 30th, 2018

Description: This scholarship is for students who study a foreign language and have experienced or have a desire to study abroad. Applicants must create a 500-1,000 word essay describing your personal language experience, desire for international study, and why you feel that language learning will be a necessity within the next 10 years.
