How To Boost Your GPA During the Summer

No Comments 12 July 2017

If your grades from last year aren’t where you’d like them to be or you want to improve your GPA, summer is the perfect time to get ahead. Check out these tips for boosting your GPA this summer.

Get a tutor. Not good with numbers? Find a math tutor. There’s nothing wrong with asking for help. Everyone has different learning styles. A tutor can help you achieve a breakthrough with a difficult subject. Extra one-on-one attention can make a world of difference.

Take classes at a community college. Many people take college classes during the summer to get ahead. There is another motive. As long as the credits transfer to your future college, you can take equivalent of a required general education course at your community college. Typically, classes are accepted on a pass/fail basis. That means if you know this class will be particularly challenging for you, it will not negatively impact your overall GPA.

Keep reading. It’s easy to give yourself a break during the summer, but it also is important to keep your mind sharp. Creating a summer reading list is a great way to do this. Be sure to include a mix of school-required books, as well as books that are just for fun.

Enroll in summer school. This is probably the most common way to improve your grades during the summer. Retaking a course during the summertime cuts down the distractions of extracurricular activities and allows for more one-on-one time with an instructor. If it is too late to enroll this summer, it always can be an option for next year.

Doing schoolwork during the summer is never ideal. But if your grades are suffering, you will thank yourself in the long run.
