You’re almost at the finish line, but you’re not quite there yet. Here is what you need to do during your upcoming senior year of high school.

Continue to look for scholarships. You can never have too much money for college. Don’t lose your momentum – continue to look for scholarships this year. Exhaust every outlet. Continue to keep your College Greenlight profile updated. As long as you give us the right information, we will send you scholarships that match your profile.

Take the ACT or SAT again. If you are not happy with your test score, you don’t have to settle. You can retake the ACT or SAT in the fall. The higher your test scores, the more financial aid you can get. Better test scores will also help you get into college.

Prepare for the FAFSA. The FAFSA is used to apply for financial aid from the federal and state government and most colleges and universities. The FAFSA opens October 1. There are a few ways you can make the process run smoother. First, sign up for a FSA ID to complete your FAFSA online.

Take your studies seriously. Just because you are graduating and have selected a college doesn’t mean you can coast during senior year. Your college will continue to track your grades even after you get in. Poor grades during senior year could cost you your spot at your college.

Spend time with family and friends. You need to focus on your academics this year, but your life does not need to revolve entirely around school. Whether you are going to school across the country, in-state, or just your local community college, your schedule will change a lot next year. You will have a lot less time to spend with family friends. So while you have the time now, carve out time in your schedule to enjoy your loved ones’ company.
