Our wildly popular Scholarship Marathon is taking place on Saturday, March 22nd, and just like last year, it will be an all day event.

And we are proud to announce that this year’s Scholarship Marathon will be co-hosted by our sister website, Cappex.com!  That means that this event will be bigger and better than ever. So mark your calendars, and get ready to kick start this year’s scholarship search in style.

For those of you who haven’t heard about the Scholarship Marathon, here’s what you need to know:

For Students

The Scholarship Marathon is a free virtual event that runs all day at CollegeGreenlight.com. It starts at 9am, and is a chance for students from all over the country to win raffles, prizes, and money for college just for applying to scholarships!

How it works: First you must have a College Greenlight profile. Filling out a profile is simple, and can be done at CollegeGreenlight.com. After you have a student profile filled out you can register online at this link. Then on the 22nd you can join us online anytime from 9 to 9 (am to pm) to upload proof of your completed scholarship applications, enter raffles and giveaways, get one-on-one scholarship help from our team, and even win a $1,000 scholarship from us just for participating!

For Counselors

The Scholarship Marathon is a free way for you to get your students applying for scholarships! We’d love to have your organization join us by hosting an event for your students the day of the marathon. Hosting an event is a great way to help your students get the most out of the marathon, and allows you to provide front-end support to your students while they complete their scholarship applications. To host an event, here are three simple steps you should take:

1. Select a time for your event

We recommend having your event run for about 2 or 3 hours. Our marathon of course runs all day, but we’ve heard that most counselors have had the most success with physical events that are short and sweet. And students can continue participating in the marathon from home after your event is over. Most of our students tend to participate from between 11am and 3pm, so events around that time are most successful.

We’ve put together several resources for you to review that will help you plan your event accordingly. This is a schedule of events for the day that outlines when our webinars and raffles will be held.

2. Register your students

See the instructions above. Your students must first have a College Greenlight student profile, and then can register online at this link. We also have a flyer you can download here that can you should pass along to your students.

3. Prepare your students

Get your students ready for the marathon early by making sure they are actively looking for and applying for scholarships. We’ve put together a helpful guide that gives students a 2-week plan for getting started on their applications.

We’ve also put together an incredible power point presentation that reviews everything you need to know about getting ready for the marathon. You can download the presentation by clicking on the Scholarship Marathon button below:
