California is one big state with lots of great opportunities for students to get money for college.  It’s so big, in fact, we had to split the list of scholarships into two! This list is for students residing in northern California, with some additional scholarships for students who live anywhere in the Golden state.

Local scholarships are great to look into because they will have fewer applicants than national ones since they’re only for students in your area.  In this list, we’ve highlighted some scholarships that are for first-generation and underrepresented students, as well as including a few other great opportunities to get free money for college.  Additionally, the due dates for the scholarships on this list are year-around, so make sure you note which ones you can apply to now and which ones you may have to wait until next year for.
