College Greenlight Summer Challenge Scholarship Official Rules

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY.  A PURCHASE OR TRANSACTION WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING.

  1. SPONSOR. The College Greenlight Summer Challenge Scholarship (the “Sweepstakes”) is sponsored by College Greenlight, a division of Cappex.com, LLC (“Sponsor”).
  2. HOW TO ENTER. You may enter the Sweepstakes by doing the following: (a) Log into your College Greenlight account, (b) add 5 colleges to your “My Colleges” List, (c) add 5 scholarships by changing your status to “Will Apply” and (d) Click the Apply button for the College Greenlight Summer Challenge Scholarship. Individuals who complete the foregoing steps and meet all other eligibility requirements contained in these Rules will be automatically entered for a chance to win the Sweepstakes.
  3. ELIGIBILITY: This Sweepstakes is open only to registered College Greenlight users who are residents of the fifty (50) United States and the District of Columbia, thirteen (13) years of age or older and currently enrolled (or enroll within two years of the Sweepstakes) in an accredited post-secondary institution of higher learning (college, university or trade school) located in the United States. Entrants under the age of majority in their state of residence (“Minors”) must have permission to enter from their parent or legal guardian and will be required to obtain a written release from their parent or legal guardian prior to claiming any prize.  Proof of permission may be required at any time. Employees of Cappex (along with its contractors, affiliates and subsidiaries) and their families are not eligible. Void where prohibited by law. Contestants residing in those areas where the contest is void may participate in the contest but may not win any prizes. Each entry must be submitted on an individual basis (i.e., no team, joint, or corporate entries) and all components of the entry must be the original creation of the submitting participant. Only non-commercial work may be submitted. Entries may not contain profanity, nudity, pornographic images, violent images, anti-competition messages, illegal material, or material that violates the rights of third parties. Entries may not include confidential information, trade secrets, trademarks or copyrighted material belonging to any person or entity other than the entrant absent a suitable license or permission agreement, proof of which is required. Entries containing any forbidden matter or material otherwise deemed by Sponsor to be inappropriate will be disqualified. Online entries will be deemed submitted by the authorized account holder of the email address submitted at time of entry.
  4. CONTEST PERIOD. Entries will be accepted online starting on or about May 1, 2017 and ending September 1, 2017 All online entries must be received by September 1, 2017 at 11:59 pm CST.
  5. WINNER SELECTION. Two winners will be selected via random drawing from all eligible Sweepstakes entries (“Winner”). If a Winner is disqualified for any reason, an alternate Winner will be selected through additional random drawings as many times as necessary.  The odds of winning will be determined by the number of entrants into the Sweepstakes.
  6.  PRIZES. The winner will receive a $500 scholarship (“Scholarship Prize”) in the form of a direct payment to the accredited post-secondary institution of higher education attended by the winner (once the winner has enrolled in an accredited post-secondary institution of higher education and submitted proof of enrollment to Sponsor or Sponsor’s scholarship administrator). The awarding of any Scholarship Prize is contingent upon full compliance with these Official Rules and subject to Sponsor’s verification of Applicant and Applicant’s submission. Applicants agree to be bound by Official Rules and agree that if any Winner is found to have violated the Official Rules or otherwise does not meet eligibility criteria, Scholarship Prize will be forfeited and an alternate Winner will be selected. Applicants understand that Sponsor is not liable for injuries, losses or damages of any kind arising from participation in this Scholarship Program and acceptance, possession and use of Scholarship Prize. Sponsor is not responsible for any typographical or other error in the printing of the offer, administration of the Scholarship Program or in the announcement of the Scholarship Prize.
  7. WINNER NOTIFICATION. Winners will be notified via the social media account used to enter the Sweepstakes within 14 days after the winners have been determined, and no later than 30 days following the end date of the contest. Inability to contact a winner may result in disqualification and selection of an alternate winner.
  8. GENERAL CONDITIONS:
    1. By entering, you represent that: (i) your entry is your own original work; and (ii) you own or have the rights to convey any and all right and title in any material submitted as part of your entry into the Sweepstakes.
    2. Participants hereby grant Cappex a non-exclusive, perpetual, worldwide license to broadcast, publish, store, reproduce, distribute, syndicate, and otherwise use and exhibit the Submission (along with their names, voices, performance and/or likenesses) in all media now known and later come into being for purposes of trade or advertising without further compensation. Participants represent and warrant that they have full legal right, power and authority to grant Cappex the foregoing license and if applicable, have secured all necessary rights from any participants in, and contributors to, their Submission in order to grant such a license. Cappex is under no obligation to use any Submission or return the Submissions to participants.
    3. Winners (and their parent or legal guardian, if a Minor) will be required to execute and return an Affidavit of Eligibility, a liability release and where lawful, a publicity release within 14 days of notification. Non-compliance within this time period may result in disqualification and selection of an alternate winner.  Any income tax liability is the sole responsibility of the winner.
  9. USE OF CONTEST INFORMATION: All entries become the property of Cappex. Cappex reserves the right to use any and all information related to the contest, including submissions provided by the contestants, for editorial, marketing and any other purpose, unless prohibited by law.
  10. NOT ENDORSED BY SOCIAL MEDIA PROVIDERS: By participating in this contest, you acknowledge that this contest is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with Instagram, Facebook or Twitter (“Social Media Providers”) and release the Social Media Providers from any and all liability arising from or related to this contest.
  11. CONDUCT: All contest participants agree to be bound by these Official Rules.  Cappex in its sole discretion, reserves the right to disqualify any person it finds to be tampering with the entry process, the operation of its web site or is otherwise in violation of these rules.
  12. LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY: By participating in the Sweepstakes, you agree to release Sponsor and its parent companies, affiliates, subsidiaries, employees, directors, officers, and agents from any and all liability, claims or actions of any kind whatsoever for injuries, damages or losses to persons and property which may be sustained in connection with the receipt, ownership, possession, use, or misuse of any prize. Cappex is not responsible for late, lost or misdirected email or for any computer, online, telephone or technical malfunctions that may occur.  If for any reason, the contest is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention or technical failures of any sort; Cappex may cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the contest.  Entrants further agree to release Cappex from any liability resulting from, or related to participation in the contest.

Scholarships Expiring in April

The end of the school year will be here before you know it. End the school year on a high note and apply for these scholarships with April deadlines.

American United for Separation of Church and State Student Essay Contest – Applicants must submit an essay about a given topic on church-state separation violations. See website for more details. The award amount ranges between $500 and $1,500. Applications are due April 15.

Notes for the Future Scholarship Program – Students planning to study music in college should check out this scholarship. Applicants must submit a recording of a live performance. Applications are due April 28 and the scholarship award amount is $1,000.

Prevent Texting and Driving Scholarship – Share a text message guide on how to keep your friends safer while driving to be considered for this $5,000 scholarship. Applications are due April 30.

Ruth Lily Poetry Fellowships – Young poets interested pursuing writing are eligible for this scholarship. The award amount for this scholarship is $25,800. Applications are due April 30.

Women in STEM Scholarship ­– This scholarship is for women pursuing an undergraduate or master’s degree in science, technology, engineering or mathematics. Applications are due April 15. The award amount for this scholarship is $3,000.

NSORO Educational Foundation Scholarship Program – High school graduates who have been in foster care for the consecutive 12 months leading up to their 18th birthday, or have been adopted or placed into legal guardianship from foster care after their 16th birthday or have been orphaned for at least one year at the time of their 18th birthday are eligible for this scholarship. Applications are due April 17 and the award amount ranges between $1,000 and $10,000.

A Voice for Animals Contest – This scholarship is for students who have actively participated in programs that promote the humane treatment of animals. The scholarship award amount ranges between $150 and $650. Applications are due April 10.

Gloria Barron Prize for Young Heroes – Students who demonstrate leadership and courage in developing a service project are eligible for this scholarship. Applicants must be nominated by an adult who has an understanding of their project. Applications are due April 15. The scholarship award amount is $5,000.

A Place for Mom Senior Care Innovation Scholarship – This scholarship is for students who are pursuing an associate’s, bachelor’s or graduate-level degree in a medical nursing or social sciences related major and planning on a career that involves working with senior citizens. The scholarship award amount is $1,000 and applications are due April 15.

Ayn Rand “Atlas Shrugged” Essay Contest – Applicants must submit an essay on Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged. Applications are due April 28. The scholarship award amount ranges between $50 and $20,000.

Official Rules – Greenlight to College Marathon

NO PURCHASE IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. A PURCHASE OR OTHER TRANSACTION DOES NOT INCREASE THE CHANCES OF WINNING.  The Sponsor of this Sweepstakes is Cappex.com, LLC (“Cappex” or “Sponsor”).

 

  1. Eligibility: the Greenlight to College Marathon (the “Sweepstakes”) is open to residents of the 50 U.S. States and the District of Columbia who sign up at the online sweepstakes page and are at least 16 years old at the time of entry. Employees of Sponsor and its respective affiliates, subsidiaries, and their immediate family members and/or those living in the same household of each are not eligible to participate in the Sweepstakes. The Sweepstakes is subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations and is void where prohibited by law.

 

  1. Agreement to Rules: By participating, you agree to be fully unconditionally bound by these Rules, and you represent and warrant that you meet the eligibility requirements set forth herein. In addition, you agree to accept the decisions of the Sponsor, as final and binding as it relates to the content.

 

  1. Sweepstakes Period: Entries will be accepted online starting on or about February 25th at 9:00 AM CST and ending February 25th at 6:00 pm CST (“Ending Time”). All online entries must be received by the Ending Time.

 

  1. How to Enter: The Sweepstakes must be entered by either (a) submitting an entry using the online form provided on this site and providing the required documentation evidencing a completed college application or (b) sending an email to info@collegegreenlight.com with the subject line “Online College Application Marathon Entry” and including the entrant’s name, address, email address. Acceptable documentation to evidence a completed application includes (i) Screenshots or a digital photo of any piece of your college or scholarship application, e.g., a resume, personal statement, or essay or (ii) a receipt from a college or scholarship provider acknowledging their submitted application. Your entry must fulfill all sweepstakes requirements, as specified, to be eligible to win a prize. Entries that are not complete or do not adhere to the rules or specifications may be disqualified at the Sponsor’s sole discretion. If you use fraudulent methods or otherwise attempt to circumvent the rules your submission may be removed from eligibility at the Sponsor’s sole discretion.

 

  1. Prizes: From all Sweepstakes entries, Sponsor will draw one (1) winner for a $1,000 college scholarship (the “Scholarship Prize”). Each hour during the contest, Sponsor will draw additional winners of gift certificates ranging from $25 to $100 for a total of $1,000 (the “Hourly Prizes”). Hourly Prize winners will be selected from entrants each hour of the Sweepstakes and entries will not be carried over from one hour to the next. You are not guaranteed to win a prize and your chance of winning is dependent on the total number of eligible entries received. No cash or other prize substitution permitted except at Sponsor’s discretion. The prize is nontransferable. Any and all prize related expenses, including without limitation any and all federal, state, and local taxes shall be the sole responsibility of the winner.

 

  1. Winner selection and notification: Sponsor will conduct a random drawing to select Sweepstakes winners. Hourly Prize winners will be notifed via College Greenlight’s Twitter and Facebook feed, as well as via e-mail to the e-mail address they used to enter the Sweepstakes. Scholarship Prize winner will be notified via email to the email address they used to enter the Sweepstakes with in two (2) weeks following the Ending Time. Sponsor is not responsible for a winner’s failure to receive notices due to winners’ spam, junk e-mail or other security settings or for winners’ provision of incorrect or otherwise non-functioning contact information. If the selected winner cannot be contacted, is ineligible, fails to claim the prize within 15 days from the time award notification was sent, the prize may be forfeited and an alternate winner selected. The receipt by winner of the prize offered in this Sweepstakes is conditioned upon compliance with these Official Rules and any other federal and state laws and regulations.

 

  1. Cancellation or Modification of Sweepstakes: Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Sweepstakes if it determines that any condition beyond its reasonable control may corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness or proper conduct of the Sweepstakes. Sponsor may disqualify any entrant who, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion, has violated these Official Rules or otherwise threatened the integrity of the Sweepstakes.

 

  1. Release / Indemnification. By entering the Sweepstakes, each entrant agrees to release, hold harmless and Cappex, its subsidiaries, affiliates, directors, officers, partners, equity holders, shareholders, members, employees, agents and representatives and all others associated with the execution of this Sweepstakes and prizes (the “Released Parties”) from and against any and all liabilities or causes of action arising out of or related to your participating in this Sweepstakes. Released Parties are not responsible for failure of electronic communications, acts of God or other events beyond Sponsor’s reasonable control that may prevent the Sweepstakes from occurring or impact your participation in the Sweepstakes.

 

  1. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY. BY ENTERING THE SWEEPSTAKES, ENTRANT AGREES THAT TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW: (A) ANY AND ALL DISPUTES, CLAIMS AND CAUSES OF ACTION ARISING OUT OF OR CONNECTED WITH THE SWEEPSTAKES, OR ANY PRIZE AWARDED, WILL BE RESOLVED INDIVIDUALLY, WITHOUT RESORT TO ANY FORM OF CLASS ACTION; (B) ANY AND ALL CLAIMS, JUDGMENTS AND AWARDS WILL BE LIMITED TO ACTUAL THIRD-PARTY, OUT-OF-POCKET COSTS INCURRED (IF ANY) NOT TO EXCEED TEN DOLLARS ($10.00), BUT IN NO EVENT WILL ATTORNEYS’ FEES BE AWARDED OR RECOVERABLE; (C) UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WILL ANY ENTRANT BE PERMITTED TO OBTAIN ANY AWARD FOR, AND ENTRANT HEREBY KNOWINGLY AND EXPRESSLY WAIVES ALL RIGHTS TO SEEK, PUNITIVE, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR SPECIAL DAMAGES, LOST PROFITS AND/OR ANY OTHER DAMAGES, OTHER THAN ACTUAL OUT OF POCKET EXPENSES NOT TO EXCEED TEN DOLLARS ($10.00), AND/OR ANY RIGHTS TO HAVE DAMAGES MULTIPLIED OR OTHERWISE INCREASED; (D) ENTRANTS’ REMEDIES ARE LIMITED TO A CLAIM FOR MONEY DAMAGES (IF ANY) AND ENTRANT IRREVOCABLY WAIVES ANY RIGHT TO SEEK INJUNCTIVE OR EQUITABLE RELIEF; AND (E) ENTRANT IRREVOCABLY AGREES TO BRING ANY ACTION ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE SWEEPSTAKES IN THE CIRCUIT COURT OF COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS, OR THE UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT FOR THE NORTHERN DISTRICT OF ILLINOIS (IF JURISDICTIONAL PREREQUISITES ARE SATISFIED).
